Let’s look at some of the skin and hair issues one might come across.

SKIN WOES

ACNE AND PIMPLES

Humidity is much higher in monsoons which leads to more oil production on the skin. Along with the oil, the humid air is filled with dust and bacteria that can further contribute to clogging the pores. This causes breakouts like acne and pimples. People with oily or combination skin are more likely to have it.

FUNGAL INFECTIONS

Monsoon brings in warm and damp weather which is a perfect home for fungal infections. These infections include ringworm, athlete’s foot, and yeast infections. The area mostly affected are the skin folds on the body.

DULL AND GREASY SKIN

The skin looks more greasier due to the excessive moisture in the air. The skin can also develop a lackluster complexion. This makes the skin look dull and tired.

ECZEMA AND DERMATITIS

Due to exposure to allergens and moisture in the air, skin can experience flare-ups. People with sensitive skin types are prone to flare-ups. The damp weather can trigger eczema and dermatitis.

ALLERGIC REACTIONS

Pollen and mold spores are some of the allergens that are present in the environment. These allergens can trigger allergic reactions in individuals that are susceptible to it. This leads to redness, itching, and hives on the skin.

HAIR WOES

HAIR FALL

The excess moisture in the air can weaken the roots of the hair. This leads to increased hair fall. Increased humidity also can make the scalp prone to more infections and contribute to hair loss.

FRIZZ AND HUMIDITY

Hair absorbs more moisture from the air due to the high humidity levels. This causes frizz and unruly, and unmanageable hair. Curly hair type in particular is more prone to frizz in the monsoon.

DANDRUFF AND SCALP INFECTIONS

The dampness in the air creates a perfect condition for the fungus to grow on the scalp. This further causes dandruff and itching problems. One can be very tempted to scratch their scalp. The only thing that will do is worsen the issue.

OILY SCALP

The monsoon humidity can stimulate the sebaceous glands on the scalp. This, in turn, increases the oil production on the scalp. This causes the scalp to look greasy and leads to greasy hair and clogged pores.

HAIR ODOR

Hair odor is something most of the individuals out there are concerned about. Sweat, humidity, and oily scalp can lead to an unpleasant smell, and lead to bad hair odor.
